Complex Formulas

Create complex formulas with natural language instructions. No need to remember exact syntax or nested function structures.

What Crunched Can Build

  • Multi-criteria lookups (INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP)
  • Nested IF statements with multiple conditions
  • Array formulas and dynamic calculations
  • Date and text manipulation formulas
  • Financial functions (NPV, IRR, XIRR, etc.)

Example Usage

"Create a formula that looks up the revenue for Q2 2024 from the Data sheet"
"Build a nested IF that categorizes revenue as High (>1M), Medium (500K-1M), or Low (<500K)"
"Write a SUMIFS that totals revenue for Product A in the US region"

Build Models from Scratch

Build back-of-the-envelope models from scratch with Crunched’s assistance:

Model Types

  • LBO Models: Leveraged buyout analysis with debt schedules and returns
  • DCF Models: Discounted cash flow valuations
  • Forecasts: Revenue and expense projections
  • Market Sizing: TAM/SAM/SOM bottom-up analysis
  • Sensitivity Tables: Scenario and sensitivity analysis

Example Usage

"Build a 5-year revenue forecast based on 15% annual growth"
"Create a simple LBO model with 60% debt and 5-year hold period"
"Build a market sizing model for online grocery delivery in Spain"
For best results, provide Crunched with key assumptions and desired structure upfront. You can always ask it to research typical methodologies first.

Model Iteration

Ask Crunched to iterate on your model, such as:
  • Expanding the forecast period by a year
  • Adding a debt tranche in the LBO
  • Including additional scenarios
  • Adding sensitivity analysis

Example Usage

"Extend the forecast period from 2025 to 2030"
"Add a revolving credit facility to the debt schedule"
"Create a sensitivity table for WACC and terminal growth rate"
Complex multi-step model iterations are still being refined. While Crunched handles single-section additions well, coordinated changes across multiple sections may require breaking into separate requests. This capability is improving with each update.
Break complex iterations into smaller, focused tasks for better results. For example, instead of asking to “expand and restructure the entire model,” ask to “add 2 years to the forecast period” first, then “add the new debt tranche” in a separate message.
Use the Personalization tab in Crunched to customize how it builds models for you. You can add custom instructions (e.g., “always use XLOOKUP instead of VLOOKUP”) and set formatting preferences like colors for headers, inputs, and outputs. This ensures Crunched builds models that match your preferred style and standards.
